DR. ROBERT E. BRAY is the consulting equine nutritionist for Star Milling Company and developed their Integrity line of horse feeds. His specialization includes horses, companion animals and zoo animals. He has developed and formulated animal feed & nutritional products for companies that serve the horse, companion and zoo animal industries. He provides guidance on product development, counsels veterinarians on nutritional related problems, and advises ranches on the nutritional management of horses. Dr. Bray has recently retired (Sept 2009) as a professor and associate chair of the Animal & Veterinary Sciences Department at California State Polytechnic University - Pomona. He received his Ph.D. in animal nutrition from the University of Maryland and conducted his Ph.D. research at USDA. In addition to being a professor and nutritional consultant, he has managed horse farms, raised and shown horses, conducted research with horses, the giant panda, tigers, wild equids, and exotic birds, tracked and conducted research with wild horses and conducted high altitude equine studies in the High Sierras; he has more than 40 years of experience with horses and more than15 years of nutritional experience with zoo animals. His expertise and success as a consulting nutritionist has centered on sound, nutritional management feeding practices. Dr. Bray is well published in the sciences for horses and zoo animals, frequently an invited speaker, and has completed three manuals, Equine Nutritional Management which specifically addresses the nutritional management issues of the horse owner as well as for the veterinarian; Horse Management: The Fundamentals, a laboratory and lecture guide manual for beginning horse students; and The Fundamentals of Animal Nutrition, an introductory manual for undergraduate students in animal nutrition. Dr. Bray has served on several animal industry boards and continues to serve as an advisor to several groups in the animal industry. Dr. Bray now resides in Woodstock, Virginia and is a full-time consultant in animal nutrition and product development in the animal industries.
